Because the message he gave was not received. The people refused to listen and he suffered great persecution .
The Lord told him the words I give you speak. He couldnt listen to the deceitful words of the people. The people needed to heed the genuine words of God - and the people should have been obliged to acknowledge them.
Think of what Paul said-So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth? (Galatians 4:16)
Thats how we all have to be speaking the truth in love.
But some won't listen- and we have to be prepared for that. Yet still refuse to compromise the truth
