It seems a struggling author is “struggling” a bit more than usual. He has writer's block. But what makes things more fascinating is that the author in question is named Edgar Allan Poe. No one knows the true events that caused the inspiration of Poe's greatest work, but perhaps... just perhaps... it happened something like this.
