Today we will be joined by Author Cate Montana. She wrote one of my favorite books Unearthing Venus- My search for the woman within. Cate was bornduring the post-war baby boom. Daughter and granddaughter of college educated women, she was steeped in the conservative values of 1950's upper middle class America. After graduation from boarding school, she was part of the equestrian and socialite scene in Washington D.C. until she left Virginia to take a job and begin acareer in broadcasting. By 1981 she was living the ultimate vision of the second-wave feminist; fabulous career, gorgeous condo, an attentive lover and all the freedom in the world. But what she didn't know, and was soon to find out, was that being a successful woman didn't necessarily mean being a success as a woman.
A long dark night of the soul followed the break-up of her second marriage. Then a chance encounter with a shaman changed everything. Challenged to plumb the depths of her own feminine nature, she began a quest that would take here from her comforable home in rural Washington into the heart of the Amazon jungle, up staggering peaks in the Andes, and halfway across the globe to the consecration of a temple to the Great Goddess in southern India.
