How does one go about creating rules to incite civility? That very weighty question is now before the Coffee Party Board of Directors, and we'd like your input on just how we can. Tonight is your chance to let us know what rules should be used to ehnance and perfect the Partys value. Historically, The Coffee Party was conceived on a very high level notion; that American did not need a political party or group whose modus operandi was to create policy positions, and seek their adoption through dishonesty, maliciousness, and total intractability. But while Annabel attributed this type of deplorable behavior to the Tea Party, we all know people who hold positions across the entire political spectrum that operate in this same manner. Thus, the Coffee Party's primary mission has always been about teaching people with differing political viewpoints to engage in intellectually honest conversations aimed at finding the very best of each. However, all we have as a guideline is the Civility Pledge which, as with all well-meaning, high-minded ideals is prone to interpretation and thus is in jeopardy of being hijacked by those wishing to take advantage. Tonight on Press [1] for Democracy, we'll discuss why we need to further clarify our mission and goals, how we can best get the message out our membership and the rest of the world, and ways to protect our organization from those who would seek to appropriate it for their own selfish purposes.
