Listeners of MindFreedoms BlogTalk Radio Show are no doubt aware of the work of David Oaks, MindFreedoms co-founder, and know about his 40+ years of tireless dedication to the movement for a non-violent revolution in the mental health system. Many of you have also followed the story of his tragic accident last December that has left him paralyzed and a wheelchair user. He is now back to his family and friends in his hometown of Eugene, Oregon after a 3-month stay at Craig Rehab Hospital in Colorado and, as the saying goes, he is bloodied, but not bowed. David is determined to continue contributing to the success of the movement for psychiatric patients rights and he is as sharp and determined as he ever was! In his homecoming speech given to friends, family and supporters in Eugene on May 18th, David asked people to "open up the circle" to include more people into his call for a nonviolent revolution in the whole world. Hes not just talking about a revolution in the mental health system any more. Tune in Saturday, June 8th to MindFreedom Internationals special edition, hosted by blogger and MFI staffer, Sophie Faught, who will welcome David back to the movements stage. David and his brother Tony will talk about Davids narrow escape from death and his struggle to survive his long journey back to recovery from breaking his neck on December 1st last year. David will also talk about the future of the revolution in the mental health system and, of course...well take your calls.
