For centuries, mankind has pondered one of the great eternal mysteries: are we alone in the universe? Is there life beyond our planet? If focusing solely on probability, there has to be - the universe is too vast for us to be all there is. However, there are a number of theories as to why we may be the only life. Regardless, we’ve fantasized about the day when we discover that we are not the only ones out there. This realization has been explored throughout all of our artistic and philosophical endeavors. The most powerful of all of these is cinema: where our imaginations have run wild with what other species may look like, how they may behave, and what they might do when they meet us.
