Join Dr. Angela Lauria of Book Journeys as she interviews Valerie LaPenta Steiger on the writing and publishing of her book, Mafia | Kitten: Lessons for Strong Women on Finally Letting Go, Feeling Safe, and Being Loved.
Valerie Steiger is a life coach, a leadership consultant, a writer, and a retreat specialist. But above all else, she describes herself as a "mafia-kitten" which is a pet name to herself that describes her strength spectrum that ranges from being SO STRONG (mafia) to helpless, weak (kitten). As the subtitle of her book states, she's written it for women and how they can let go, feel safe, and be loved. It is for women of both mafia and kitten poles and dissects what makes them vulnerable through stories that actually happened.
Valerie's choice of topic for the book would seem quite a lot to absorb at a time, but it makes sense since it's really a vehicle that represents the hundreds of women that she has worked with and coached who've experienced, as she had, what it felt like to be forced to be strong, to build walls against criticism and abuse, and to be left feeling alone, afraid, confused and yearning for happiness and love.
Tapping into her own experiences, Valerie's intention for the book is to guide women to release hurtful memories and haunting thoughts and to be secure once again in life, grounded in hope, faith and self-love that nurtures the true strength that lies inside them.
