Clio Express: A Conversation with Maxine Brown

Maxine Brown began singing as a child, performing with two New York gospel groups.  In 1960, she signed with the smal Nomar Record label, who released the smooth soul ballad "All in My Mind" (which was written by Maxine) late in the year.  The single became a hit, climbing to number two on the R&B charts (19 on the Pop charts), and it was quickly followed by "Funny", which peaked at number three.  She had later hits with a new label (Wand Records) with works by Carole King and Gerry Geffin ("Oh No, Not my Baby").  A great discussion about the 60's music world from a female perspective.
