Self Care is not selfish as we who are Baby-Boomers or older were brought up to believe. It is a necessity as part of living truly healthily emotionally and as well and mentally.We were often taught that Self-Care and Self-Lover were vain ventures. Starting possibly with the Great Depression as a backlash from the wanton 1920's selflessness took the stage as the rightful and more humble way of living.
In thinking of others were we not depleting the self preservation, self-confidnece, self-control and self-esteem? And too, if you are depleted how can you possibly assist someone else fully? You cannot. It's time to throw off humbleness and truly live, then AND only THEN can you assist someone else. It is NOT selfish to take care of yourself first. In fact, it is a necessity.
