Where the roots don't grow. I chose that name as a lot of us who grew up in the system never felt like we had any roots or felt like we were ever part of a family that truly cared about us. Some of us were treated worse than animals and told daily we could be taken back where we were found, at times this was actually done to some of us. Its why kids have multiple placements because they are not adjusting to the new home and constantly moving them just makes it worse as it teaches them instability. Remember we were just kids and had no way to defend ourselves in our best interests. We were ripped from our homes over issues beyond our control and placed into new homes with strangers we didn't know or understand what we did to deserve this. Our family bonds were severed and we were lost, confused, and scared. But remember this was all done in our best interest by the system. We were traumatized but it was done in our best interest! We have nightmares, PTSD, can look forward to mental health issues later in life, some drugged to make them more compliant. This is just one part of this story as there are many other parts to tell. This is just the beginning of my story. Eventually I hope to get more former kids to come forward with their fight with the system. How they were treated and felt about the care they received.
