Growing up a country boy from Texas! Jeff Martinec tells all!!

Growing up a country boy in Texas has had a huge play in how I live my life day to day, everything from how I act to the very music I write. Having spent many scorching hot days out in the West Texas heat, I know first hand what it means when people use the phrase blood, sweat, and tears. I will say I am thankful for the way I grew up though. It creates a sense of humility that allows me to view the world as a much larger place than just what I see in front of me. A lot of that came from moving to Austin, TX in my teenage years. Not only was it a drastic change, but it was a change that helped shape me. I went from being just a country boy, to someone who can handle whatever comes my way. Moving to Austin also introduced me to music in an entirely different way than I had ever seen before, being the live music capital of the world, there is always someone playing somewhere. It wasn't until recently though that I picked it up and started writing. Most people say they played to get girls, but I started so that I could play with a girl and while that sounds dirty, its not. Met a woman who had a beautiful voice, and I owned a guitar but never started playing it seriously until she told me that she wanted to do a song together. I started dabbling, and eventually taught myself how to play the guitar. After many nights of staying up late and singing into our phones, I started to wonder if I could sing, so by accident I found out one night that I could. This led to an entirely new world of music that I never had on thought about before....that was songwriting. Inspiration came from everywhere and while yes, I have some lyrics that even a wall would tell me to stop singing, my music has slowly but surely began to take off and get some recognition here and there. This is where I am at today, getting my music out there, and what better way to live your life then by telling stories and seeing someone tapping along with the beat.
